Wanchun Jiang received the BE degree in computer science and technology from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2009, and received the PHD degree with honor under the superivsion of Prof. Fengyuan Ren in 2014. He has also been a visiting student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), under the supervision of Prof. Songwu Lu in 2013. Self-motivated students are welcomed to join the group. The students who ask for an acceptance letter should provide evidence for the programming ability, e.g., a detailed project description. The application of PHD should include not only the publication but also the detailed contribution in the publication. Or else, the E-mail without details will not be replied.
The students who ask for an acceptance letter are also encouraged to finish the following simulation work and attach the result in the Email. "Assume two nodes are connected with a link. The link capacity is 1Mbps, the latency is 0.1ms,and this bottleneck buffer size is 50 packets. One node sends packets by following the Poisson process and the packet size follows the exponential distribution with average value 200Bytes. The link utilization is 0.9.
Please calculate the average queueing length at the bottleneck link, the probability of packet loss, and the probability that the buffer occupancy is larger than 20 packets.
Please conduct simulations with NS3 to verify above analytical results.
