Professor Zaiming Liu, a Ph.D. supervisor of Central South University, former dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, former Secretary of the Party Committee, is the major leader in Probability and Statistics of national key disciplines, the head of first-level key programs in Mathematics of Hunan Province during the 12th Five-Year Plan, and the head of scientific and technological innovation team in Hunan universities during the 12th Five-Year Plan.
Professor Zaiming Liu received a bachelor degree in Mathematics from Hunan Normal University in 1981 and a Ph.D. degree in Probability and Statistics from Changsha Railway University in 1988. He has been engaged in teaching, scientific research and management of mathematics in Hunan Normal University and Changsha Railway University (merged as Central South University in 2000). He studied as a visiting scholar in Windsor University, Canada, from July to September, 2001 and continued his studies in Michigan State University, the United States, from September 2005 to September 2006. In 1995, he was promoted to professor, and a supervisor of doctoral students since 1996.
Professor Zaiming Liu mainly focuses on the research of Markov Process and Its Application, Queueing Theory and Queueing Network, Insurance Risk Theory and Actuary, Stochastic Process and Its Application, etc. Professor Zaiming Liu has hosted and participated in more than 10 scientific and teaching projects, such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Foundation of Doctoral Program, and Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province, etc. He has published 3 monographs and over 100 articles in leading international academic journals and conferences.
Professor Zaiming Liu has lectured on nearly 20 courses for undergraduates and graduates, guided and trained more than 100 master's and doctoral students. He has obtained the 7th National Second Prize for Excellent Science and Technology Books and the first prize for scientific research in Hunan Province twice. He is a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions from the Ministry of Railways and the winner of the Outstanding Young Teachers Assistance Program of the Ministry of Education. He has been selected as the second level candidate of first 121 Talents Program in the new century of Hunan Province.
