Pan Dong, a native of Nanyang, Henan Province, is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor. He received his bachelor's degree in Automation in 2015 and his doctoral degree in Control Science and Engineering from Central South University in 2021. He was selected for the 9th China Association for Science and Technology's Young Talent Support Project.
My main research areas include intelligent detection and automation devices, infrared thermal imaging, information fusion (multimodal image fusion, multi-source information fusion), and deep learning. He has led 6 projects, including a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project, a Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation Youth Project, and a Changsha Municipal Natural Science Foundation Project. He has also participated as a core member in 5 NSFC Major Projects, Major Scientific Instrument Development Projects, and university-industry cooperation projects. Currently, he has published over 40 SCI/EI papers in authoritative journals in the fields of Information Fusion, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Measurement, Acta Automatica Sinica, and Journal of Instrumentation, with an H-index of 19. He has been granted 23 national invention patents, and related achievements were selected as one of the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovations" in the first Hunan Provincial Advanced Manufacturing Technology Innovation Competition.
I have served as a reviewer for over 30 international journals, including IEEE TIE, IEEE TII, IEEE TIM, and EAAI, and has received the "Outstanding Reviewer" award from IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, a leading journal in the field of testing.
I have received numerous awards and honors, including the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from the Chinese Association of Automation, the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress from the Chinese Association of Automation, the Jin Guofan Young Scholar Award, the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award from the China Nonferrous Metals Society, the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award from Central South University, the Annual Excellent Paper Award from the Journal of Instrumentation, the Academician Zhang Zhongjun Excellent Paper Award, and the Best Chinese Paper Award at the Annual Conference of Young Scientists of the Chinese Association of Automation.
The research group boasts ample funding, a harmonious atmosphere, and a well-equipped "Intelligent Sensing and Online Detection" laboratory. It possesses advanced instruments and equipment, including an infrared thermal imager, infrared spectrometer, high-temperature blackbody furnace, and endoscopic imager. The group encourages and funds graduate students to participate in domestic and international academic conferences. Collaborations have been established with renowned international universities such as Université Laval (Canada), the University of British Columbia, and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), providing opportunities for graduate students interested in pursuing further studies abroad.
