We study the origin, expression patterns, translational regulation, and functional relevance of internal open reading frames (intORFs), with particular emphasis on how they are generated from alternative transcripts and how they relate to canonical coding sequences. Through ribosome profiling, long-read transcriptome sequencing, reporter assays, and functional studies, we seek to elucidate the mechanisms governing intORF biogenesis and translation and to uncover new layers of hidden coding information in gene regulation.
