Dr. Bei Sun is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Automation, Central South University. He received the Ph.D. degree in Control Science and Engineering from Central South University in December 2015. He was a joint Ph.D. student at New York University (2012–2014), and a postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University, Finland (2016–2018). His research focuses primarily on industrial artificial intelligence. He has served as Principal Investigator for projects including a National Key R&D Program project and National Natural Science Foundation of China general projects. He serves as a member of the IFAC TC 6.2 Technical Committee and Secretary-General of the Automation Academic Committee of the Nonferrous Metals Society of China. Over the past five years, he has published 34 papers as first/corresponding author, co-authored one English monograph, and contributed to publications such as the China Automation Technology Development Report. He has applied for or been granted 56 national invention patents. His honors include the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Technological Invention Award, the First Prize of the CAA Natural Science Award, the National Nonferrous Metals Outstanding Young Scientist Award, and the Zhang Zhongjun Award. He has guided students to win the Hunan Province Outstanding Master's Thesis Award and the Best Paper Award at the China Automation Congress.
