Personal Information
Kai Wang, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University in 2014 and was admitted to the Ph.D. program at the same university in the same year. From September 2017 to September 2018, he conducted joint training at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University in June 2019. In September 2023, he was exceptionally promoted to Professor. He has been granted the Huxiang Young Talent Award and the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. He was selected into the 7th Young Talent Support Project of the China Association for Science and Technology, the Changsha Outstanding Innovative Youth Training Program, and the Xiaomi Young Scholar Program, among other talent programs. His main research interests include big data analytics and modeling, process system safety and monitoring, and intelligent optimization and control of systems. He has presided over 6 national-level projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the National Science and Technology Major Project, and the National Key Research and Development Program (sub-projects). He has published over 50 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author in IEEE Transactions, IFAC journals, and other prestigious journals, and has applied for and been granted over 20 national invention patents. His research has won the First Prize of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Association of Automation, the Second Prize of the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award, and the First Prize for Excellent Paper at the China Process Systems Engineering Annual Conference. He serves as a reviewer for several internationally renowned journals. Teaching and Courses He teaches undergraduate courses including Principles of Automatic Control and Python Programming, and graduate courses including Modern Digital Signal Processing and Big Data Processing and Analysis Technologies. He serves as a supervisor for undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship projects. He has received one provincial-level teaching reform project and one provincial-level outstanding teaching case for professional degree graduate students. He has been awarded the titles of Outstanding Supervisor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects at Central South University, Excellent Class Advisor, and Graduate Teaching Quality Excellence Award. His students have won multiple awards in the National Graduate Electronic Design Competition, Mathematical Modeling Competition, and the National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Annual Conference. Student Recruitment The laboratory is affiliated with the Institute of Control Engineering, led by Academician Gui Weihua and Professor Yang Chunhua, and possesses multiple national and provincial-level platforms. The laboratory is recruiting Ph.D. and Master’s students on a long-term basis. Students interested in related research are welcome to join the research group.
