Dr. Shixiang Wang is an Associate Professor at the School of Life Sciences, Central South University, and a Master's Thesis Advisor. He holds a Ph.D. in Cell Biology.
His research interests include the integration and data mining of big data resources in oncology (immunotherapy) omics, as well as the study and application of cutting-edge and innovative bioinformatics algorithms and tools for (oncology) research. To date, he has published over 20 SCI papers, including more than 16 as first or corresponding (including co-first/co-corresponding) author (of which more than 14 are in JCR Q1, and 2 are ESI highly cited), with over 1,500 citations on Google Scholar. He has also filed 5 patent applications. Currently, he is the principal investigator of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Youth Science Fund) and the Hunan Provincial Excellent Youth Fund. He also serves as a reviewer for more than a dozen international journals, including Briefings in Bioinformatics and Communications Biology.
In July 2016, he obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Subsequently, he was admitted to the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and then transferred to the ShanghaiTech University to pursue a master's degree. In April 2018, he passed the assessment for the master-to-Ph.D. program and continued his doctoral studies. His academic status was transferred to the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (cultivated by ShanghaiTech University) in the same year, and he obtained his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 2021 (supervised by Professor Xue-Song Liu). During his master-to-Ph.D. program, he received the School's Class A Academic Scholarship, the National Scholarship for Doctoral Students, the 2021 Shanghai Outstanding Graduate Award, and the ShanghaiTech University Outstanding Graduate Award. In July 2021, he was invited to conduct postdoctoral research at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (co-supervised by Professor Rui-Hua Xu, with Professor Qi Zhao and Professor Feng Wang as his mentors), and he completed his postdoctoral program in June 2024. In July 2024, he was appointed as an Associate Professor at the School of Life Sciences, Central South University.
