I am currently a full professor in the School of Automation at the Central South University(CSU) (Top University) in China. I received my BEng from Beijing Institute of Technology in 2010 and PhD from University of Alberta in Canada in 2017. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Texas at Austin, I joined CSU as a full professor in 2021. My research focuses on the development of intelligent computational methods including multi-scale modelling, optimization, data analytics, control strategies and machine learning for applications in chemical processes and energy systems to support smart and sustainable development. I am leading a Smart Systems Engineering research group at CSU of more than 20 team members as PI and also the Deputy Director of the Industrial Process Smart Modeling Development Programme in China. My team has built systematic planning platforms for smart engineering development that combines model-based and data-driven approaches for overall economic benefits improvements. I has also been actively educating the public especially youth through a series of workshops and online channels (viewed by 10,000+ audience) on AI and sustainability. I has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers, organized and chaired several international conferences, and delivered more than 30 presentations and invited talks at international conferences and universities on five continents. I was awarded the National Youth Thousand Talents Program (China) as well as the Hunan Province Outstanding Youth Talents Program in 2022.
