Description of Research Group:
The "Intelligent and Collaborative Mining of Metal Mines" research team, led by Professor Zhou Keping, is an innovative scientific research group currently composed of 7 faculty members and over 60 graduate students. The team boasts strong research capabilities, having undertaken and completed more than 100 national, provincial, ministerial, and industry-academia collaborative research projects. It has received over 20 national and regional science and technology awards, published 6 academic monographs and textbooks, and successfully trained more than 100 doctoral and master's graduates.

Dr. Chun Yang is an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Resources and Safety Engineering, Central South University. He also serves as a postdoctoral researcher at the China University of Mining and Technology, where he collaborates with Academician He Manchao.

Dr. Yang received his B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Mining Engineering from Central South University. From September 2019 to August 2021, he conducted research on microwave-assisted mechanical rock breaking as a member of Professor Ferri Hassani’s research group at McGill University, Canada.

Research Interests

  • Microwave-induced thermal effects in rock: theory and engineering applications

  • Intelligent ore sorting for metallic minerals

  • Numerical modeling and simulation in geotechnical engineering

  • Safe and efficient mining technologies for metal mines

Academic Achievements
Dr. Yang has published more than 40 academic papers, authored one monograph as the first author, and holds 15 patents (filed and granted). He has received two scientific and technological achievement awards and has led multiple research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Program, the Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province, and nearly 20 university–industry collaborative projects.
