Liang Yuan is a recipient of the Young Talent Program under the Hunan Provincial Furong Talent Program. He received his B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering and Automation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China, in 2016, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, School of Automation, Central South University. His research interests include stability analysis and stabilization technologies for renewable energy grid integration, load and renewable energy forecasting, optimal scheduling of integrated energy systems, and power system planning.
In recent years, he has published more than 50 high-quality academic papers, including over 30 papers as the first or corresponding author, as well as five papers on educational reform. He has been granted more than ten Chinese and international invention patents and has co-authored one academic monograph. He has served as the principal investigator of two projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including a subproject of a Joint Fund project and a Young Scientists Fund project, as well as one project funded by the Young Scientists Fund of the Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province. He has participated in six national research projects, including a Major Project and General Program projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and projects under the National Key Research and Development Program of China. He has also led several industry-sponsored projects funded by the State Grid Corporation of China, China Energy Investment Corporation, and China Energy Engineering Corporation.
He serves as a reviewer for more than 30 domestic and international journals and as a peer-review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His academic appointments include: Young Associate Editor of Protection and Control of Modern Power Systems; Young Editorial Board Member of Energy Storage and Applications; Young Expert Committee Member of Energy Conversion and Economics; Young Editorial Board Member of Electric Power Construction; Young Editorial Board Member of Distribution & Utilization; Guest Editor of Frontiers in Electronics; Special Session Chair for several international conferences.
He has received a number of teaching and academic awards, including the Top 30 Classroom Teaching Award of Central South University, the National First Prize in the 2025 Experimental Teaching Case Design Competition for Electrical Engineering Courses in Chinese Universities, and the National Second Prize in the same competition in 2024. He received the 2026 ICPIES Young Scientist Award and several Best Paper Awards at international conferences, including 2019 IEEE EI², 2024 CFEEE, and 2024 ICSCGE. He has also been recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer by several journals, including Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, Energy Conversion and Economics, Journal of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Shandong Electric Power.
