Xiaocong Zuo, female, born in 1973 in Xiangtan, Hunan Province, is a member of the Communist Party of China. She holds a Doctorate in Medicine and serves as the Chief Pharmacist, Professor, and Supervisor of Doctoral Candidates. Currently, she is the Vice President and Committee Member of the Party Committee at Xiangya Third Hospital, Central South University.
Recognized as a New Century Excellent Talent by the Ministry of Education, she is a leading figure in the national key discipline of clinical pharmacy. Additionally, she is the Director of the Hunan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Prevention and Control of Drug-Induced Organ Damage and has held the position of Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
She is a member of various academic organizations including the Clinical Pharmacy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and holds positions as Deputy Director and Standing Committee Member of the Hospital Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Cross-Strait Medical and Health Exchange Association. Furthermore, she serves as a council member for the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association and is a committee member of the Clinical Pharmacology Professional Committee of the Chinese Pharmacological Society. Within the Hunan Province, she holds roles as Standing Director of the Hunan Pharmaceutical Association and Chair of the Drug Clinical Evaluation and Research Professional Committee.
Her primary areas of expertise include personalized drug therapy, clinical evaluation of drugs, and research on drug-induced diseases. She has led four projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including one key project under the Joint Fund for Regional Innovative Development of the National Natural Science Foundation. Her contributions include the publication of 137 articles, out of which she has been the first or corresponding author in 78. Notably, she has published over 40 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author in renowned international journals such as Kidney International and Redox Biology, which have garnered over 700 citations.
Xiaocong Zuo has been honored with the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Hunan Province, as well as the First Prize for Medical New Technology Achievements at Central South University. She has co-edited the fifth edition of the national higher education planning textbook for pharmacy majors titled "Clinical Pharmacotherapy." Moreover, she has supervised nearly 30 graduate students, many of whom have received accolades such as Outstanding Master's Thesis in Hunan Province, National Scholarships, and grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
