  • Abstract:Metal-airbatteries (MABs)and reversiblefuel cells(RFCs)rely on the bifunctionaloxygencatalysts for oxygenevolutionreaction (OER)andoxygenreductionreaction(ORR).Finding efficientbifunctionaloxygencatalystsis theultimategoaland it has attractedagreatdealof attention.The dilemmais thatagoodORRcatalystisnot necessarilyefficientfor OER,and vice versa.Thus,the developmentof anewtypeof bifunctional oxygencatalystsshouldensurethatthe catalystsexhibithighactivityfor bothOERandORR.Composites withmulticomponentsfor activecenterssupportedon highlyconductivematricescould be abletomeetthe challenges and offeringnewopportunities.InthisReview,the evolution of bifunctionalcatalysts is summarizedanddiscussedaimingto deliverhigh-performancebifunc-tionalcatalysts withlow overpotentials.
