    Chen Wenmi, male, Han nationality, born in 1965 in Hunan province. Bachelor degree of Nonferrous Metallurgy at Central South University, 1983 ~1987. Doctor of Engineering degree of Metallurgy from Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, Sachsen, Germany, 1989~1993.

    He has been working at Central South University since 1996 and had served as director of Institute of Metallurgy Physical Chemistry & Material Chemistry, Central South University for about 13 years.

    Dr Chen has been engaged in physical chemistry and new technology of alumina production process. He has about 80 publications and 7 patents. He and his research group has accomplished more than 30 enterprise research projects. Dr Chen has solved technical problems of many alumina smelter with economic gain for enterprises. These projects include: influence and removal of organic substance in alumina production, oxalate removal from Bayer liquor, industrial application of wet air oxidation, removal of carbonate during evaporation of Bayer liquor, utilization of high-sulfur bauxite in alumina production, inhibition of hydrolysis during washing of red mud, synthesis and use of scale inhibitors during evaporation of spent liquor.
