摘要:This study shows that tension-compression yield asymmetry in a wrought Mg–9Al alloy can be reduced and even eliminated by multi-directional forging. After multi-directional forging and solution treatment, the texture was found to be randomized and maintained its features during grain growth. With this texture, the asymmetry ratio was tested to be 1.1 and 1.0 when the grain size was 7 and 30 μm, respectively. After peak aging, the ratio shifted to 1.2 and 1.1, respectively. The low asymmetry ratios were attributed to the low percentage of grains oriented for {101‾2} twinning and the balanced twining activity between tension and compression. A brief summary of studies on yield asymmetry was also conducted to present the various approaches and their effectiveness on this subject.
