Profile
MORE+Pengru Deng is a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Civil Engineering, Central South University, China. He is a recipient of the National Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas).
His research focuses on the durability, assessment, and strengthening of bridge structures. His work particularly emphasizes fatigue performance, AI-enabled structural inspection and health monitoring, and digital twin-based lifecycle performance prediction. He has also contributed to innovative high performance composites.
Dr. Deng received his Ph.D. from Hokkaido University, Japan, where he later worked as a Research Fellow and Assistant Professor (tenure-track). His research spans vehicle–bridge interaction, fatigue damage prediction, and fracture mechanics-based durability assessment of reinforced concrete bridge decks.
He has led and participated in multiple competitive research projects in China and Japan, including a subproject of the National Key R&D Program of China, projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and several prestigious Japanese funding programs.
Research Interests
Fatigue and durability of bridge structures
AI-based structural inspection and health monitoring
Structural strengthening using advanced materials (e.g., UHPFRC)
Digital twin and lifecycle performance prediction
Open Positions
We are always looking for highly motivated Master’s and Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and international collaborators. Applicants with interdisciplinary backgrounds (e.g., computer science, mechanics, materials) are especially encouraged.
