  • Description of Publication:Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been broadly recognized as a key technology to mitigate the climate changes induced by enormous emissions of greenhouse gases, especially CO2. Among various CO2 sorbents, recently, MgO-based sorbents have received tremendous attention due to their high theoretical capture capacity, wide availability, low cost, non-toxicity and wide operation temperatures. With the rapid progress in these promising CO2 sorbents, a timely review is highly required. In this work, we provide an overview of the state-of-the-art researches in the literature of MgO sorbents. We critically summarize the various approaches for the performance enhancement, optimization of operation conditions, granulation and their applications mainly in sorption-enhanced water gas shift (SEWGS).
