Our research focuses on the non-canonical coding potential of the eukaryotic genome and systematically investigates the production, expression, and functions of micro/small proteins translated from non-canonical open reading frames. By integrating molecular biology, proteomics, and transcriptomics, we aim to characterize these previously overlooked protein products and define their roles in cellular physiology and disease, thereby expanding our understanding of coding capacity and proteome complexity.
