Stability analysis of tailing dam based on phreatie line prediction using Random Forest method

Abstract:Phreatic surface is one of the most important factors which affect tailing dam reliability Due to the extremely complicated seepage boundary conditions of tailing darn, the calculation results adopting two-dimensional simplified theory may be greatly different from the measured results. It is urgent need of an accurate calculation method to forecast phreatic surface. Based on analysis of affecting factors of phreatic surface in tailing dam, the regression method of Random Forest (RE) was used to predict the phreatic surface. According to the daily observation of phreatic surface, the RE model for predicting phreatic surface was obtained. The proposed model was applied to analyze the stability of tailings dam. A practical case in China is given to illustrate analysis method based on presented RE model for predicting phreatic surface.
