He has been responsible for more than 10 research projects including the National Key Basic Research Program 973 Project, the National Natural Science Foundation, the Hunan Outstanding Youth Fund, the Western Transportation Technology Project of the Ministry of Communications, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. He has long been engaged in teaching and research work in civil engineering.
The traditional limit analysis theory is based on the linear Mohr-Coulomb criterion. In fact, a large number of experiments prove that the failure criterion is nonlinear. Based on the nonlinear criterion, he hsa established the nonlinear theory of limit analysis for the first time in the world, and the results have been highly recognized by international peer experts.
He has published more than 200 papers, of which more than 130 paper are indexed by SCI. The paper was cited by SCI more than 1,500 times. Conducted advanced interview research at Hong Kong Polytechnic University several times. The doctoral dissertation was awarded the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award; the accumulated guidance graduate students received a national scholarship of 430,000 yuan; the master's thesis was awarded the Hunan Excellent Master's Thesis Award. He is the editor-in-chief of the foreign journal IJPS and the deputy editor of the foreign journal CAES.
