Profile

CHEN Ziwei is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Metallurgy and Environment, Central South University (CSU). He received his Ph.D. in Energy and Resources Engineering from Peking University in 2022. He then conducted postdoctoral research at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and City University of Hong Kong, where he was awarded the Research Enhancement Grant (REG)-Postdoctoral Fellow Matching Fund and was selected for the Research Talent Hub of the Innovation and Technology Fund (RTH-ITF) of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He joined CSU in January 2026 through a high-level talent recruitment program.

His research aims to develop low-carbon technologies for sustainable metallurgy and resource circulation. Current interests include clean metallurgy and circular utilization of complex resources, molten-salt energy-storage materials, structure-property relationships and atomistic simulation of silicate melts, and waste-derived functional and environmental materials.

Dr. Chen has published 40+ SCI papers, including 20 as first or corresponding author in journals such as Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Journal of Cleaner Production, Construction and Building Materials, Ceramics International, and Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B. He has filed 12 patents, with 7 granted, and serves as a reviewer for journals published by Nature Portfolio, ACS, RSC, Wiley, and Elsevier.

Motivated students and postdoctoral researchers are warmly welcome to join the group.
