Visiting Experience

   Dr. Weixi Jiang, serving as the deputy director of neurosurgery & director of celebrovascular surgery in Xiangya Hospital CSU, come to the United States and visited the Johns Hopkins University and University of Washington as a scholar in April 2014. During the half of a year, a depth of academic interaction in the field of celebrovascular surgery has been made and Dr. Jiang has not widened his knowledge, but improved himself as well.

    The Johns Hopkins Hospital, as a teaching hospital of the School of Medicine the Johns Hopkins University locating in Baltimore Maryland, is one of the American top hospitals, especially in neurological disease treatment. Its pure reputation and thorough medical system has enjoyed great prestige in the world. Because of the identity of the seminary of neurosurgery, a number of medical centers have been established treating a variety of diseases including celebroma, celebrovascular disease, neurofunctional disease, etc.

    In the process, Dr. Jiang completely integrated into the medical life of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, visiting a quantity of celebrovascular surgeries by notable such as Prof. Rafael Jesus Tamargo, who is focusing on the treatment of aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernous malformations and some of his recent accolades include the Neurosurgery Faculty Teaching Award and the Hopkins Richard S. Ross Clinician Scientist Award. Simultaneously, he actively attended the lecture on which professors in Cerebrobascular Center shared their exprience on both celebrovascular diseases treatment and hospital management, making indepth communications on about the new technique and idea in the subspeciality.

    Also, in his leisure time, Dr. Jiang visited Welch Medical Library. There are countless books - a large portion are out of print - and lots of surgical instruments and models used in 19th century.

    In August 2014, Jiang came to Harborview Medical Center and started another 3-months visitation. University of Washington Medicine is the only medical school in northwestward of America and as its affiliated trauma center, Harborview Medical Center is renowned the globe round. Its neurological surgery is an international leader in the care and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. Jiang penetrated into daily life of operating theater witnessing many well-known experts -like Prof. Laligam N. Sekhar, a UW professor and vice-chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery - operating and after that they discussed about all round including the clinical feature, diagnosis and treatment of individuals.

     Through the visitation, Dr. Jiang has not only upgraded the qualities of himself, but also taken advanced medical treatment idea and iatrotechnics back to China, expediting the proceedings of development in Xiangya Hospital Neurovascular Surgery.
