Supervisor of Master's Candidates  

Profile

 Song Cao is a lecturer and master’s supervisor at the School of Automation, Central South University.


He received his Ph.D. in Control Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in June 2025. As a technical backbone member, he has participated in projects including the National Key R&D Program of China, the Major Instrument Development Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.


He has published 20 papers in internationally recognized journals and conferences in the fields of remote sensing and signal processing, such as  IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, and IEEE Photonics Journal, and has been granted 10 patents.


He serves as a committee member of the SCAI and Simulation Special Committee of the Chinese Simulation Society; a young editorial board member of journals including  Geophysical Prospecting for Petroleum, Deep Resources Engineering,  Advanced Equipment, AI in Neurology, Journal of Artificial Intelligence for Medical Science,  Advanced Information and Communication, and Brain Horizon; and a reviewer for international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, and Petroleum Science. He is also a member of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Chinese Society of Automation, Chinese Geophysical Society, China Society of Image and Graphics, and Chinese Simulation Society.


He has received awards including First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Nonferrous Metals Industry, Outstanding Graduate of Beijing, Outstanding Graduate of Hunan Province, and Outstanding Thesis Award. He has also supervised students in projects and competitions such as the Graduate Independent Exploration and Innovation Project, the Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, and the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition.

1. Theoretical Research on Artificial Intelligence Algorithms

- Artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms

2. Artificial Intelligence + Deep-Earth Exploration

- Intelligent processing of geophysical signals such as seismic, electromagnetic, and logging data  

- Multimodal geophysical inversion modeling  

- Intelligent prediction of deep-earth resource distribution  


3. Artificial Intelligence + Psychiatry

- Intelligent processing of medical data such as EEG signals and brain MRI images  

- Intelligent decoding of multimodal brain medical information and discovery of objective biomarkers  

- Intelligent diagnosis of mental disorders such as depression and anxiety, and closed-loop neuromodulation physical therapy  



The “Industrial Intelligent Sensing and Optimized Control” research group is recruiting postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. students, master’s students, research assistants, and outstanding undergraduates with available time and strong motivation!


Relevant disciplines and research areas include, but are not limited to: automation, control science and engineering, artificial intelligence, electronic information, computer science, mathematics, communications, industrial internet, and big data analytics.
