Profile
I am Peisheng Wang, Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Powder Metallurgy, Central South University (CSU), China.
After earning my Ph.D. in 2012, I spent several wonderful years conducting research at TU Clausthal (Germany), Northwestern University (USA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA. These experiences shaped my global vision, and I now bring that network and perspective to every project in my group.
My Research Frontiers
My group sits at the intersection of Materials Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Thermodynamics.
We use the Materials Genome Initiative (MGI) framework – combining CALPHAD, machine learning, first‑principles calculations, and key experiments – to accelerate the discovery of high‑performance materials for extreme environments.
Our current core projects include:
1, AI‑Driven Superalloys/Composites
Multi‑objective optimization of Co‑based superalloys and composites using machine learning + CALPHAD, targeting next‑generation aerospace engines.
2, Aluminum Matrix Composites
Thermodynamic design and interface engineering of high‑strength SiC fiber‑reinforced aluminum composites (SiCf/Al).
3, Phase Stability in Extreme Environments
Predicting the evolution of MAX phases and complex interfaces under harsh conditions.

Who I Am Looking For
I am actively seeking motivated Master’s, Ph.D., and Postdoc candidates with backgrounds in:
Materials Science & Engineering
Physics
Computer Science / Data Science / AI
Preferred qualifications:
A strong academic record (GPA > 80/100 or equivalent).
For Ph.D./Postdoc: prior research experience in computational materials science, CALPHAD, DFT, or machine learning is a plus (but not mandatory).

Editorial roles: Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports; Young Editorial Board Member for several other journals.
Publications: Over 50 peer‑reviewed papers and 10+ patents.
