Xu Qingyuan, who is a professor and a doctoral tutor of the Department of Railway Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Central South University, was born on December 26, 1972 in Xinzhou District of Wuhan City in Hubei Province. He received his Ph.D. degree in road and railway engineering from Central South University in 2005, then went on postdoctoral research in the Railway Third Survey and Design Group Co., Ltd in 2005-2008. After that, He became a visiting scholar in the University of Nottingham in the UK from 2013 to 2014. Professor Xu is mainly major in continuously welded rail , ballastless track structure, vibration-reduction railway track, environmental vibration due to railway transportation, rail wear, and dynamic railway location. He has hosted and has participated in more than 20 projects which are at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. He has published more than 60 research papers, among them, nearly 40 SCI and EI papers have been published by him as the first author. Professor Xu is the reviewer for many famous internation journal, such as Computers and Geotechnics, Vehicle system dynamics, Proceedings of the institution of mechanical engineers part F-journal of rail and rapid transit, Advances in Engineering Software, Shock and vibration, Applied Acoustics, Journal of Central South University, Journal of Modern Transportation.
