Ye Qifa, male, surgical chief physician, medical professor, doctoral and postdoctoral supervisor, was born in Gucheng county, Hubei Province on December 5, 1954, graduated from Medical department of Tongji Medical College in December, 1975, and was rewarded the surgical doctoral degree from the University of Heidelberg, Germany in December, 1992. Now he is the director of the Research Center on Transplantation Medicine Engineering & Technology of National Health Ministry and the head of the transplantation & hepatobiliary surgery departments in both 3rd Xiangya Hospital of Central South University(Changsha City, Hunan Province) and Central South Hospital of Wuhan University(Wuhan City, Hubei Province).Prof Ye has engaged in Pancreas & Hepatobiliary and transplantation Surgery for over 40 years and finished more than 1,000 cases of various complicated liver resection operation, more than 1,000 cases of liver transplantation and 2,000 cases of kidney transplantation. He successively made 12 innovations about the surgical techniques of piggyback liver transplantation, which were all firstly reported in China. He completed the most cases of Liver Resection in vitro and Remnant Liver Replantation operation, which is the most difficult in the hepatic surgery, and achieved excellent curative effect in the world. He firstly set up the piggyback liver transplantation models in both large and small animals and performed the experimental and clinic research on liver transplantation hemodynamics in China. About the liver transplantation, Prof. Ye is a domestic pioneers and promoters of piggyback liver transplantation, reduce-size liver transplantation, split liver transplantation, emergent liver transplantation, liver retransplantation and ABO-incompatible liver transplantation, etc. And his research work focus on liver quality evaluation, liver ischemia-reperfusion injury, immunosuppressant metabolic gene SNP sequencing after transplantation and immune tolerance, etc. He successively won more than 40 national and provincial scientific research awards, got more than 10 national patents, published over 400 papers, guide over 100 master, doctoral graduate student, made great contributions to the development of liver transplantation of our country.
