Wei Chen got Ph.D. from Geotechnical Institute of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany in 2015. He is currently an associate professor and master/PhD tutor in the Department of Railway Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Central South University.
His research topics are mainly related to new track structure, track and tunnel damage, track geometry detection and tunnel damage detection, damage constitutive model of rock and concrete materials, rock soil interaction and deformation . He has published 27 SCI papers in high-level journals, applied for 6 patents, participated in writing two English Monographs about rock mechanics and geological hazards along the railway, been responsible for translating one Chinese railway code into English (TB / t2897-1998 Railway Sub ballast), and won the second prize of science and technology award of China Railway Society in 2020.
