Zhiming Li is a professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Central South University (CSU) and the director of the Department of Materials Science in the school (since 2019). He is also a guest research group leader in the Department of Microstructure Physics and Alloy Design at the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung (MPIE) in Germany. He earned his PhD degree (2014) in materials science and engineering at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and was a joint PhD candidate at the University of California in Davis, followed by postdoctoral studies at the MPIE from 2015 to 2017. He then worked at the MPIE as the leader of “High-Entropy Alloys” research group from 2017 to 2019. His current research focusses on the development of multi-component alloys, including alloy design, processing, microstructure and properties.
