In 2006, Dr. Meng graduated from the School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Ocean University of China with a bachelor's degree in bioscience. In 2009, he received his master's degree in zoology from the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He gained doctor's degree in human anatomy, histology and embryology from Central South University, in 2018. After graduation, he entered the Post-Doctoral of Special Medicine in the same institution for two years. In 2020, he joined Central South University.

His team has been engaged in the study of medical entomology and forensic entomology for a long time. They combine traditional morphological classification methods of vector insects and hygiene pest (flies in Diptera) with barcoding technology, various genetic markers, multi-omics technical, CRSPER-Cas9 to solve issues such as species identification, population identification, phylogenetic, and phynotype adaptation. Resent year, they paied more attention on rapid detection of environmental samples for parasites and clinical screening and diagnostic techniques for parasitic diseases. Useing biohydrid based biosensor, we have inovated low-cost desktop device for rapid detection on blood of malary infected patients. Updated device aims on clinical pathogens detection will be published soon.

As a corresponding or first author, he has published 16 SCI papers in GigaScience, Biosens and Bioelectron, Jounal of Medical Entomology, Veterinary Parasitology, Zookeys. He is the associate editor of "Modern Forensic Entomology" and the editor of the college textbooks "Forensic Entomology" and "Environmental Damage Related Forensic Science Identification". 9 patents of various types. He presided over 2 National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, 1 Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation. He is currently the executive director of the Hunan Entomological Society, the chairman of the Medical Entomology Professional Committee of the Hunan Preventive Medicine Association.
