Profile
Peisheng Wang, Ph.D.
Associate Professor & Doctoral Supervisor
Join Our Research Group: Designing the Materials
I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Powder Metallurgy, CSU. After earning my Ph.D. in 2012, I spent several years conducting advanced research at top-tier institutions including TU Clausthal (Germany), Northwestern University (USA), and NIST (USA).
My research sits at the intersection of Materials Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Computational Thermodynamics. Our group leverages the Materials Genome Initiative (MGI) framework—combining CALPHAD, Machine Learning, First-principles calculations and key experiments—to accelerate the discovery of high-performance materials for extreme environments.
Why Join Us?
Cutting-Edge Methodology: You will master Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) and Data-Driven Design, the most sought-after skills in modern materials science.
Global Perspective: With my extensive background in Europe and the US, I maintain strong international connections. Outstanding students will have opportunities for international collaborations and exchange programs.
Impactful Research: Our work on SiC-reinforced composites and Co-based superalloys/composites is directly applied to the next generation of Aerospace Engines and Advanced Power Systems.
Mentorship: I am committed to nurturing independent researchers. Whether you aim for academia or industry, you will receive tailored guidance to achieve your career goals.
Core Research Frontiers
AI-Driven Superalloys/Composites: Multi-objective optimization of Co-based superalloys/Composites using Machine Learning and CALPHAD.
Next-Gen Aluminum Matrix Composites: Design and interface thermodynamics of high-strength SiC fiber-reinforced aluminum matrix composites (SiCf/Al).
Phase Stability in Extreme Environments: Predicting the evolution of MAX phases and complex interfaces.
Academic Excellence
Editorial Leadership: Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports and young editorial board members of several other journals.
Track Record: Published 50+ papers and 10+ patents.
Peer Recognition: Frequent reviewer for top journals like CALPHAD, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, and Materials Characterization.
Contact & Application
I am actively seeking motivated Master’s and Ph.D. candidates with backgrounds in Materials Science, Physics, or Computer Science who are passionate about computational design.
