Prof. Zhang Zongliang Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. and completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Utah, USA. He is a recipient of the National High-Level Talents Youth Program and the 2020 National Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad. He currently serves as a Distinguished Professor in the School of Metallurgy and Environment at Central South University, where he is also the Chair of the Department of New Energy Materials and Devices. Additionally, he holds numerous academic positions, including Member of the First Committee of the New Energy Materials Development Committee of The Nonferrous Metals Society of China, Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, Youth Editorial Board Member of Salt Lake Research, International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, Guest Editor of Crystals, and long-term reviewer for prominent academic journals published by ACS, RSC, Elsevier, and Wiley. As the principal investigator, Dr. Zhang has led key projects, including the National Key R&D Program Youth Scientist Project, the National High-Level Talents Youth Program, the Hunan Provincial Key R&D Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project, and the Hunan Provincial Youth Science Foundation Project. He has also participated in major national R&D projects, two U.S. Department of Energy projects, and two international industry-university collaboration projects. Dr. Zhang has authored more than 40 SCI-indexed papers, with over 20 as the first or corresponding author, and holds seven national invention patents as the first inventor. He is a member of TMS, ECS, and ACS and has presented his research at international conferences, where he has received multiple awards for excellent presentations. Dr. Zhang also serves as the academic advisor for the undergraduate Class 2101 in New Energy Materials and Devices and the 2022 Indonesian International Graduate Class. He has successfully mentored students in the National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, metallurgy science and technology competitions, where his students have won top awards, including the Special Prize. He has also supervised undergraduate thesis projects that were awarded outstanding graduation theses. Dr. Zhang maintains active collaborations with research teams at several international universities, and he is committed to recommending and facilitating opportunities for outstanding students to engage in exchange programs or pursue graduate studies abroad.
