Abstract:The variable domain of IgNAR shows great potential in biological medicine and therapy. IgNAR has been found in sharks and rays, and the nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum) IgNAR is the most extensively studied. Although identified over 30 years ago, its characteristics and genomic localization remain poorly defined. We localized the IgNAR loci in the nurse shark genome, resolving previously missing regions and identifying three loci (GcIgNAR1-3), of which only GcIgNAR1 and GcIgNAR2 are expressed. AlphaFold3-modelled structures confirmed the loci, advancing IgNAR research in nurse sharks.
