Profile

—— Zhengwei Chen, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Central South University. He is a National High‑level Young Talent, a High‑level Young Talent of the Furong Plan of Hunan Province, and has been listed in the World's Top 2% Scientists for two consecutive years (2024–2025). He also serves as a Supervisor for Postdoctoral Fellows under the International Training Program for Outstanding Young Talents of the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province. His research interests include rail transit aerodynamics and system dynamics safety, AI‑driven aerodynamics applications, intelligent inspection of railway defects, and quantitative assessment of human comprehensive comfort using fNIRS.


—— He has served as Principal Investigator of one National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Fund, two Research Grants Council General Research Funds (RGC-GRF) of Hong Kong, and five research grants including PolyU’s Competitive Research Grants. He has also primarily participated in more than ten projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program, the Joint Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Theme-based Research Scheme of the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, the Research Impact Fund of the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, the MTR Research Fund, the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation, and major university‑industry collaboration projects. As the first awardee, he received the Silver Award at the 11th International Invention Expo, the Third Prize of the Entrepreneurship Project of the China Invention Association in 2025, and the Recommended Paper Award (top 2.6%) at the 2024 World Transport Convention (WTC).


—— He has published over 100 high-level scientific papers, including more than 50 JCR-Q1 papers as first/corresponding author, 20 CAS Q1 (Top) papers, 2 "Featured Paper" award papers, 2 news reports by AIP Scilight, and 1 "Best Paper" award paper. His publications have received over 3,600 citations on Google Scholar, with an H-index of 33 (https://scholar.google.com.hk/citations?user=ByUVcvwAAAAJ&hl=zh-CN&oi=sra). He holds 16 authorized invention patents, including 5 Chinese mainland invention patents as the first inventor, 1 Hong Kong invention patent, and 1 Japanese invention patent. He has authored one textbook, "Fundamental Theories of Intelligent Construction," as part of the "New Engineering, New Form" series for artificial intelligence in general higher education institutions. He has also contributed three chapters to "Mechanisms and Machine Science: Computational and Experimental Simulations in Engineering" published by Springer, and co-authored one group standard of the China Transportation Association.
