Professor Zhaohui GUO’s research covers the source identification and environmental behaviors of heavy metals in contaminated soils from the mine and smelting area, innovative eco-remediation technology application of metal-tolerant plants with environmental-friendly mineral materials for rehabilitating metal-contaminated soils, and, disposal/reuse of industrial slag, low-grade ores and metals-containing biomass.
Prior to his appointment at Central South University, Prof. GUO is a member expert for heavy metals pollution control in the Society of Environmental Sciences of China. Prof. GUO’s extensive experience has significantly supported his academic career. His research has attracted the funding of key research & development planning projects. His current research projects focus on the source identification of heavy metals in metal mining and smelting industrial site soil and the investigation and assessment of underground water pollution for the abandoned mine. This supports the implementation of potential pollution control for mine area and national development of ecological environment.
Prof GUO holds degrees from: BSc, Normal College of Xiangtan, China; MSc, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; and PhD, Zhejiang University, China.
