Profile

MORE+

Haomiao Su, Associate Professor (Special Appointment), Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Life Sciences, Central South University, and a member of Professor Liu Jing’s research team. His research focuses on non-canonical translation and the biology of microproteins/small proteins, with an emphasis on the transcriptional regulation, translational mechanisms, and functions of internal open reading frames (intORFs), as well as their roles in diseases such as myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). His work integrates approaches including Ribo-seq, full-length transcriptome sequencing, proteomics, and molecular cell biology to uncover novel disease-associated coding events and their molecular mechanisms.

Previously, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute for Biomolecular Design and Discovery at Yale University, where he systematically studied microprotein discovery, non-canonical translation regulation, and disease-related functions. His findings have been published in journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nature Communications, and Cell Reports. His lab welcomes undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students who are interested in biochemistry, molecular biology, transcriptional regulation, translational regulation, proteomics, and computational biology, and also encourages collaboration with peers in related fields.
