    Dr. Yunping Li is associated professor of ophthalmology at 2nd Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, as well as the member of Optometry Professional Committee of Hunan province. Her clinical effort is focused on patients in need of medical or surgical intervention for children's eye disease (e.g. amblyopia, strabismus, congenital cataract and congenital glaucoma)and correction of refractive error with contact lens, as well as ocularplasty. She was responsible for the adaptation and translation the monograph "Strabismus: A Decision Making Approach". She is the doctor in Hunan who first carried out microscopic strabismus surgery and developed the comprehensive treatment for the patients with congenital cataract, congenital glaucoma and low vision. Her group’s work was awarded 2015 Medical Technology Achievement Prize of Central South University.
    Dr. Yunping Li received her B.S. from Hunan Medical University, M.D. and Ph.D. from Central South University. Dr. Li received her pediatric eye training at Tianjing Eye Hospital (2004), then the international organization-ORBIS(2005), as well as optic training(2012) in the EYE & ENT Hospital of Fudan University. She did her laboratory and clinic research at Stanford University Hospital, USA for one and a half year. She directs a research program funded by Hunan Science and Technology and has found one pathogenic gene for high myopia. Her research is directed at the pathogenesis of high myopia, amblyopia and prevention for myopia. Her goal is to translate scientific discoveries to patient therapies.
