Xie Bin is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Automation, Central South University. He also serves as Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory. He has been recognized as a Teaching Expert of Regular Higher Education Institutions in Hunan Province. His research and teaching mainly focus on intelligent robotics, smart healthcare, and large-scale AI models. From September 2003 to December 2008, he pursued his doctoral degree at the Institute of Information and Communication Engineering, Zhejiang University. After graduation, he joined Central South University as a recruited talent. From May 2011 to April 2014, he continued his research at the Postdoctoral Research Station of Control Science and Engineering at Central South University, under the supervision of Professor Cai Zixing, a renowned Chinese scholar in artificial intelligence, focusing on autonomous driving research. From July 2014 to July 2015, he worked as a state-sponsored visiting scholar at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, conducting research on robotic environmental perception in complex environments. From June 2018 to October 2019, he served on temporary assignment as Assistant to the Director of the Management Committee of Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, where he was responsible for industrial planning and key project development in intelligent connected vehicles and participated in the establishment of the Hunan Xiangjiang Artificial Intelligence Academy. As a project leader and key technical contributor, he has undertaken projects supported by the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Key Research and Development Program of Hunan Province, the Changsha Science and Technology Program, the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, as well as multiple industry-sponsored projects, with total research funding exceeding RMB 10 million. In recent years, he has published more than 40 papers in related fields and applied for or been granted more than 10 invention patents.
