Professor Zhaohui GUO’s research covers the pollution control and remediation for site soil and groundwater, innovative eco-remediation technology application of metal-tolerant plants with environmental-friendly mineral materials for rehabilitating metal-contaminated soils, and, harmlessness and reuse of industrial slolid wastes and low-grade ores. Prior to his appointment at Central South University, Prof. GUO is a member expert for heavy metals pollution control in the Society of Environmental Sciences of China. Prof. GUO’s extensive experience has significantly supported his academic career. His research has attracted the funding of key research & development planning projects. His current research projects focus on the source identification of heavy metals in metal mining and smelting industrial site soil and the investigation and assessment of groundwater pollution for the abandoned mine. This supports the implementation of potential pollution control for mine area and national development of ecological environment. Prof GUO holds degrees from: BSc, Normal College of Xiangtan, China; MSc, Xinjiang Institute of Biology, Soil and Desert, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China; and PhD, Zhejiang University, China.
